Concrete Floating Foundations Manufacturing Line (FOS3F)

An Innovative Project to Meet Demand in the Mediterranean

The local production of concrete floating foundations, located near the future floating wind farm sites, is a strategic lever to reduce both the cost and carbon footprint of the substructures, while maximizing the socio-economic benefits for the local regions. The Fos3F project intend to implement a floating foundations factory in Fos-sur-Mer, Southern France. This project has been selected in November 2025 for Grant Agreement Preparation by the Innovation Fund (European Union).

BW Ideol is pleased to announce that its Fos3F factory has secured up to €126 million in public funding, including up to €74 million from the EU Innovation Fund, with the final Grant Agreement signed on March 19, and up to €52 million from the French State.

EDF power solutions and Maple Power announce that BW Ideol Projects Company, a subsidiary of BW Ideol and ADEME Investissement dedicated to the development of floating offshore wind projects, has taken a minority equity stake in the company Eoliennes Méditerranée Grand Large, which is responsible for the development, construction and operation of the Méditerranée Grand Large floating offshore wind farm.

Tohoku Electric Power and BW Ideol Secure ClassNK AiP for 15MW Floating Offshore Wind Turbine System off Kuji City

Tohoku Electric Power Co., Inc. and BW Ideol have obtained Approval in Principle (AiP) from the Nippon Kaiji Kyokai (ClassNK) for the design of a floating offshore wind turbine system. This system features a concrete barge-type floating substructure designed to accommodate a 15MW-class wind turbine.
