EOLMED Project

Construction : 2022-2025


Within the frame of a call for project, the French Government has selected Eolmed, the consortium assembled around BW Ideol’s floating technology, for the development and construction of a 30MW Mediterranean offshore wind farm (3 wind turbines) 15 km off the coastal town of Gruissan.


The consortium is led by the French renewable energy developer Qair and includes Total Energies, BW Ideol and its Damping Pool® concrete floater and the wind turbine manufacturer MHI Vestas.


The commissioning of the wind farm is expected by 2025. The FID was announced in May 2022, read here.

BW Ideol is a project partner and supplier of the floating foundation technology.

Schedule 

Summer 2016 : attribution of the Gruissan site to the consortium Qair - BW Ideol

2017-2018 : engineering and application for authorisation 

May 2022 : FID

2022-2025 : construction

2025 : operation for a 20 year period

EDF power solutions and Maple Power announce that BW Ideol Projects Company, a subsidiary of BW Ideol and ADEME Investissement dedicated to the development of floating offshore wind projects, has taken a minority equity stake in the company Eoliennes Méditerranée Grand Large, which is responsible for the development, construction and operation of the Méditerranée Grand Large floating offshore wind farm.

Tohoku Electric Power and BW Ideol Secure ClassNK AiP for 15MW Floating Offshore Wind Turbine System off Kuji City

Tohoku Electric Power Co., Inc. and BW Ideol have obtained Approval in Principle (AiP) from the Nippon Kaiji Kyokai (ClassNK) for the design of a floating offshore wind turbine system. This system features a concrete barge-type floating substructure designed to accommodate a 15MW-class wind turbine.

BW Ideol is proud to announce that its “Fos3F” project, a fabrication line for concrete floating foundations in Fos-sur-Mer, has been selected by the European Commission for Grant Agreement Preparation by the Innovation Fund, for a grant of up to 74 million euros.
